  • Junction Triangle Proposed Traffic Management Plan Phase 2

In response to community traffic and parking related concerns, I facilitated the creation of the Junction Triangle Traffic Management Committee (JTTMC).  In 2015, the JTTMC presented a draft Phase 2 traffic management plan to the community in order to hear from residents.  In accordance with the feedback received, changes were made to the plan over the past several months alongside my office and City staff. Please see below for the amended plan. In order to view the plan in more...

  • WQW Triangle Traffic Management Plan Update February 2016

Over the last several years, the West Queen West triangle neighbourhood has undergone a substantial amount of change.  As a result of all the new development in the triangle, many new residents, businesses and community organizations have moved in and made this neighbourhood their new home.   The extensive development in the area has had a significant impact on the amount of traffic in the triangle.  This added traffic has made travel for pedestrians, cyclists and even motorists less safe. ...

  • Rapid Transit Expansion Update

There was a lot of news this past month on the transit file, including updates on SmartTrack, the Scarborough Subway, and the Downtown Relief Line. These updates have positive impacts on the future of transit planning in our city and shows a renewed focus to utilize data in making the best transit planning decisions for our city. A ridership study has been jointly conducted by the University of Toronto and the City Planning division in order to examine the ridership impacts...

  • 501 Queen Streetcar Improvements

The TTC has made significant service changes to the 501 Queen Streetcar in order to make it more reliable and more frequent. This includes 10-minutes-or-better service and service increases. As some of you may have seen in the news, Metrolinx and the Province have listened to our calls and the calls of many others from all across our city by reducing fares on the UP Express and creating opportunities for commuters to use...

  • Davenport Diamond December 2015 Update

Many of you are now aware through my regular e-newsletter and website updates on Metrolinx's proposed Davenport Community Rail Overpass - a 3 story rail bridge being proposed to bypass the Davenport Diamond near Lansdowne Ave and Dupont St. I have been working hard to represent the interests of our community ever since we found about this project back in March 2015 - successfully moving two motions at City Council that got City staff involved in the assessment of this...

  • December 2015 Cycling Update

I am happy to report that the Argyle Street contra-flow bicycle lanes are now complete from Dovercourt Rd to Gladstone Ave. This lane connects to the Florence street bike lane, as part the City's strategy to better connect Toronto's west end. Parking signage will be updated as parking will no longer seasonally alternate from side to side. The Annette-Dupont-Dundas intersection just to the west of Ward 18 has also been painted to better reflect where the bike lane is for both...
