While COVID-19 has affected all of us, those working in the "gig" economy have been some of the most impacted. Performers and entertainers add greatly to the culture of our city and the happiness of our communities. In order to support them, on May 28, Council passed a proposal from the Toronto Music Advisory Council to allow live music venues to claim a 50% property tax break. The savings they received from this tax break helped to keep many of these venues from closing their doors and was well received by the industry.
