At the Infrastructure and Environment Committee this week, we passed a recommendation put forward by the General Manager of Transportation Services to designate Dufferin Street between Bloor Street West and College Street a community safety zone. This is an important step as this designation is required for the installation of Automated Speed Enforcement Cameras which I we can agree are much needed in this area.
This item was included as part of my December motion to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians along Dufferin Street.
City Council will consider these recommendations on April 7, 2021.
A report back on the December motion is also on track for the April 21 Toronto and East York Community Council.
Further, we are also working with the City's Cycling and Pedestrian Unit to host consultations on the Bartlett/ Havelock cycling route this summer.
