Dear neighbours,
Tomorrow, June 2nd, is the Ontario General Election, where voters in Davenport and across Ontario will cast their ballots and elect our next Provincial Parliament and Ontario Government.
I encourage everyone to take the time to vote on Election Day if you have not voted in the advance polls. It is important that all our voices are heard as part of our democratic process. Elections provide us with the unique and important responsibility of directly electing our leaders, so if you haven't yet, please take some time to get informed on the different candidates, and when election day arrives tomorrow, be sure to vote.
You can visit this Elections Ontario web portal here to see information about where your polling station will be, based on your postal code. You can also visit this Elections Ontario link to see what ID or documentation you will need to vote.
This month is National Indigenous People's Month as proclaimed by Mayor John Tory. Toronto will mark this month with an Indigenous Arts Festival and other City of Toronto events for National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21). I would encourage you to review the programming in the link provided and take part in as many of these important events that you can.
Our City also marks Pride Month in June and we are all excited for the return of the in-person Pride Parade at the end of the month. I was pleased to join the Mayor, my Council colleagues, Pride Toronto, and other members of the community and various organizations in raising the Pride flag at City Hall this morning. The return of the parade in person, after two years of virtual celebrations due to the pandemic, is a great milestone for our City. Please visit this webpage to learn more about the many events taking place this Pride Month.
Below, I have outlined some of the many upcoming events that will be taking place in our community and across Toronto over the coming days and weeks. I will resume regular e-newsletters in the coming weeks.
As always please do not hesitate to contact my office if we can be of any assistance. You can contact my office by email at [email protected] or by phone at 416.392.7012.
