Breaking Ground on Pessoa Park, Ward 18's Newest Park!

I am excited to share that we have broken ground on the construction of Pessoa Park, Ward 18's newest park! I was pleased to be joined by Mayor John Tory, Active18, the Alliance of Portuguese Clubs and Associations of Ontario and neighbours to launch a new park for our community! Local residents voted earlier this winter to name the park at the corner of Dufferin St and Peel Ave. Pessoa means person in Portuguese, highlighting the park's role as a community gathering space and the neighbourhood's rich Portuguese heritage. Pessoa is also the name of one of Portugal's most famous artists, the poet, Fernando Pessoa.

Construction is expected to begin in early July and the park is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard together with me to reach this milestone. I can't wait to join you in enjoying our new park!
