After-School Recreation Care at Wallace Emerson Community Centre

I am pleased to announce that Mary McCormick Community Centre and the Wallace Emerson Community Centre have been selected as locations for the After-School Recreation Care (ARC) program beginning this September!

The daily fee will be reduced to $2.88 per participant and should families require further assistance they may apply for Welcome Policy that grants a full year of program access for free if they qualify.

The After-School Recreation Care program model was developed by Parks, Forestry & Recreation (PFR) in 2005 to address the child care and recreation needs of children six to twelve years of age. During the school year, the program will provide age appropriate programming from 3:00pm-6:00pm for 30 school-aged children at each new location. ARC is staffed by qualified and trained part-time recreation workers.

The vision of the ARC program is to provide children the opportunity to participate in diverse and sustainable after-school programs that enhance their social, physical, educational and creative development. The ARC program provides inclusive, cultured, flexible and high quality programs in a safe environment, and is based on HIGH FIVE's Principles of Health Child Development.
