2021 International Women's Day

International Women's Day
As we navigate our City's recovery, we are called to recognize the unique challenges women face and to ensure we work towards equity. In Toronto's recovery plan, we identify how we can do this -through expanding job opportunities, incorporating gender-based analysis in our budgeting process, advancing our  Gender Equity Strategy, addressing key issues such as housing, shelter, governance, transit planning, recreation, urban planning, youth, violence against women and affordable child care.

Our 10-year 2020-2030 Housing Action Plan will provide 10,000 new affordable rental and supportive homes for women and girls, including female-led households. Just last week in Davenport, we opened the doors to Fatima House, a women's shelter to support 25 women.

We need to continue pushing forward, and  I want to thank my amazing Council colleagues for continuously bringing strong voices to the table.
