Watermain Cleaning and Structural Relining Project on Dufferin Street

The City of Toronto has now completed the cleaning and structural relining of the watermain on Dufferin Street. Thank you very much for your patience during this more than six-month construction project. The City has relined 2.3 kilometers of the watermain on Dufferin Street (from Fisher Street to Geary Avenue) and Sylvan Avenue (from Dufferin Street to Havelock Street). The work was part of the Toronto City Council-approved 2017 Capital Works program.

The cleaning and structural improvements will help to reduce the risk of watermain breaks, extend the life of the watermain by at least 50 years and ensure the delivery of safe and reliable drinking water. Now that work is completed, the sidewalks, roadways, driveways and boulevards will be restored. Temporary asphalt to restore the roadway has been installed and will be replaced with permanent paving starting in April (weather permitting). The landscaping and replacement of topsoil and sod will take place during ideal planting season from April through June.
