Statement from Councillor Ana Bailão on
Ontario's Housing Affordability Measures
"The Province of Ontario's housing affordability measures announced today are important actions to help make rental and ownership housing more available and affordable for Toronto residents. I look forward to learning more about the details of the plan and to work with the Province to speed the implementation of many of the affordability measures announced today.
In addition to today's announcement, we urge the Province to continue to work with the City and the Federal government in taking additional action and making new investments to address Toronto's diverse needs across the entire housing spectrum.
Toronto strongly encourages the Province to step-up, and provide much needed funding, to help prevent the closure of social housing units in Toronto. The City also urges the Province in next week's budget to join the Federal government in committing to future funding to support maintaining social housing and creating affordable housing."
