Davenport Speaker Series

Since January, our City has been working rapidly to manage the impacts of COVID-19. We have been witness to unprecedented change over the span of a few months, from public health to conversations around racial equality and a just recovery. As we begin to settle into this new reality and find ourselves looking upon a second wave, there are important conversations happening all around us about the lessons we have learned and how we can best move forward. While faced with unprecedented challenges, governments and communities are realizing significant opportunities, to swiftly and comprehensively change the status quo, how we serve our communities and deal with some of the largest, deep-seeded challenges we have not been able to get ahead of in the past.

As we find ourselves in this uncharted landscape, it is important that we look both back and forward to discuss the challenges we have faced, the lessons learned, and the best way for us to move forward. Join me as I explore a number of pressing topics with the foremost experts in our City.

The challenges of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic are clear to all of us. In addition to working to end the pandemic we have also recognized the need for all of us; governments, organizations and the private sector to bring about significant transformation that will create a more just, equitable and fairer society.  The pandemic has highlighted long-standing inequities that must be addressed. Join with three leaders of the pandemic recovery plan and me as we review what needs to be done to bring about the needed transformation of our society.
