Dovercourt Park Community Association is hosting a Really Really Free Night Market on October 5 from 7 - 11pm in Dovercourt Park on the evening of Nuit Blanche, Toronto’s city-wide, all-night art event. Everyone is welcome to bring items to contribute to the market and anyone can take something away. The Really Really Free Night Market is a gathering of community members in a social market environment where no money changes hands. It’s a vehicle for community engagement, an experiment in alternative economics but mostly its a fun Nuit Blanche pre-up party for all ages.
The Really Really Free Night Market will offer goods, services, snacks, crafts, surprise performances and more. You might expect to find: clothes, books, knickknacks, artifacts, jewelry, toys, games, baby gear, kids stuff, snacks, garden harvest, seeds, plants, good times and new friends. Leftover items will be donated to local charities such as Sistering and The Ontario Early Years Centre.
- take what you need and give what you can
- no monetary exchange, trading, swapping, holding or credit
- items must be walkable or bikeable (no large furniture or appliances) - no car access
Dovercourt Park Community Association welcomes volunteers to participate in our Really Really Free Night Market. If you’d like to help coordinate item displays, welcome people, host a craft table, offer a service (such as bicycle tune-ups or clothing repair), drive excess goods to charity.
