New Track and Greenspace opened at Perth and St. Luigi Schoolyard

Local parents approached my office a few years ago with a dream to rebuild the schoolyard next to Perth Square Park in our Junction Triangle neighbourhood. Recognizing the need to provide local kids with safer, greener places to play, I immediately took up and championed this effort. Through our efforts, allocation of funding and community fundraising, our initiative was a great success. On December 4th, 2014 we opened this new community facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony and "first run" on the new track.

Since opening, this new community facility, it has been very popular with children attending the school, as well as neighbourhood residents

I will continue working collaboratively with our new TDSB Trustee Marit Stiles, TCDSB Trustee Barbara Poplawski, parents, teachers and students to see how we can collaboratively improve and utilize all of the parks and recreation spaces in our communities for local benefit. I welcome community ideas and participation always, so please do not hesitate to contact me: councillor_bailao@toronto.ca or 416-392-7012.
