College Street Infrastructure Works

Throughout this summer there are several infrastructure improvement projects happening on College Street. These include streetscape improvements, TTC track work, road work and nearby watermain work.

College Streetscape Improvements

The College Promenade BIA is undertaking streetscape improvements between Havelock and Shaw streets. The new streetscape plan includes new tree plantings, custom designed bike parking racks, new sidewalk pavers, 9 side-street parkettes, public art and more. To make these improvements, the sidewalk and outside lanes of College street will be closed. Traffic mitigation efforts will be in place to reduce impacts and one lane of travel will be maintained in each direction for the duration of the work.

College/Lansdowne Track and Road Work

The City of Toronto and TTC will be reconstructing the College and Lansdowne intersection to replace aging streetcar tracks and improve road conditions on Lansdowne. During this work, the TTC 506/306 route will be diverting via Dundas and Dufferin. The 47 Lansdowne bus will be diverting between Bloor and Queen during this work. Lansdowne Watermain Work

The City of Toronto is replacing the watermain and the city-owned portion of substandard water service pipes on Lansdowne Avenue south of Dundas Street West to Rideau Avenue and on the Lansdowne Avenue East branch to Shirley Street. Lansdowne Avenue will be reconstructed as part of this project with road closures and diversions will be in effect during this work.

Lansdowne Avenue southbound lanes from Dundas to Rideau will be closed for the duration of the work. The TTC's 47 Lansdowne bus will be diverting southbound via Dundas, Dufferin and Queen and will operate on its regular northbound routing. Cyclist are advised to detour via Lumbervale, St Helens, Dundas and  Sorauren. Cyclists travelling northbound on Lansdowne in the project area will be required to merge with traffic and share the lane.
