Canada Celebrations in Ward 18 and Across Toronto

As we get set to celebrate the 149th anniversary of Canadian confederation in Ward 18 and across the City, there are no shortage of ways to join with neighbours and friends to celebrate Canada Day. This year we also kick off the yearlong countdown to Canada 150, a milestone commemoration of Canada's 1867 founding. Ward 18 Celebrations

Macgregor Park Canada Day Festival

Join the annual free Macgregor Park Canada Day parade - bursting with music, dance, and lots of red and white! For more information, please click here.

Junction Triangle Fireworks & Potluck

Join neighbours in the Junction Triangle for an annual community potluck and fireworks display.

Citywide Events

South and Central

East York Canada Day Parade

East York’s annual Canada Day parade, featuring marching bands, will begin at Dieppe Park (455 Memorial Park Ave) at 10 a.m., moving east to Stan Wadlow Park. The celebration will continue at Stan Wadlow Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and include live entertainment, information tables and vendors. Visitors to Stan Wadlow Park's free Canada Day festivities can visit the Todmorden Mills table and learn more about the museum's connections to the history of East York (note: the Todmorden Mills museum will be closed on Canada Day). The Kiwanis pool will be open from noon to 7 p.m. A fireworks display will start at 10:15 p.m. and the park will close at 11 p.m.

Ashbridges Bay Fireworks 

The annual Canada Day fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay, sponsored by Tim Hortons, will begin at 10 p.m. Residents who are planning to attend are encouraged to leave vehicles at home and use public transit.

North

Canada Day celebrations at Mel Lastman Square

The City of Toronto will be celebrating Canada Day at Mel Lastman Square, presented by Tim Hortons with support from the Government of Canada. From 5 to 8 p.m. there will be pop-up performances by Turbo Street Funk, Illuminair Entertainment and Lisa Odjig, as well as free face painting. The Soul Motivators, a nine-piece deep funk band, perform at 8:15 p.m., followed by Juno nominated hip-hop artist Emmanual Jal at 9:15 p.m. The Canada Day celebration at Mel Lastman Square concludes with fireworks at 10:15 p.m.

Old Style Community Picnic

The Old Style Community Picnic will be held at the Broadlands Community Centre and Park Activities include face-painting, games, clown entertainment and local entertainers.

East

Thomson Park Canada Day Celebrations

Scarborough’s annual Canada Day celebration in Thomson Park includes a free pancake breakfast, buskers, bouncy inflatables, Repitilia Animal display, entertainment and a craft show and sale. More information is available by calling 416-396-4376. Sponsored by Tim Hortons.

Scarborough Canada Day Parade

Scarborough Canada Day parade will begin at 4 p.m. west of the Scarborough Civic Centre on Brimley Road, ending at Lawrence Avenue East at about 5:30 p.m. More information is available by calling 416-396-4376.

Milliken Park Fireworks

A free fireworks display at Milliken Park will begin at dusk. More information is available by calling 416-396-4376.

West

Toronto Ribfest

The annual Toronto Ribfest will be held at Centennial Park with 14 professional ribbers, live music and midway rides. On Canada Day there will be a fireworks display sponsored by Tim Hortons at 10 p.m. More information is available at http://www.torontoribfest.com.

Weston Lions Park Canada Day Celebration

Canada Day Celebrations at Weston Lions Park includes live entertainment, food, activities for children, and a fireworks display at 10 p.m.

Amesbury Park Canada Day Festivities 

The annual Canada Day event at Amesbury Park will include a barbecue, live entertainment, marketplace, strongman competition and activities for children, plus fireworks at 10 p.m. More information is available at http://www.amesburycanadaday.ca
